The opportunity:

We are looking for a Practice Head/Director of Knowledge Management who will champion the Knowledge Management (KM) – Centre of Excellence function in the organization. The individual will be working closely with key to ensure a viable and value-adding service to the business.

The role

In this role the individual will lead internal insight and intellectual property development – executing and partnering in the design of KM strategy, spearheading operations, influencing change in the organisation and managing KM professionals based out of Gaian offices

The Practice Head/Director of Knowledge Management will define and drive the strategy, processes, content and technology relating to knowledge management and Learning Practice development within the firm, which will have a direct impact on the sales, marketing and delivery capabilities of the organisation.

Essential job functions and responsibilities:

  • Maximize the benefits of knowledge management within the constraints of protecting client confidentiality and ensure that the business practices deliver this content on a timely basis
  • Act as the Project Sponsor / Manager to implement the strategy collaborating with other departments, such as IT, Training and Marketing, to deliver projects in a timely fashion, maximizing the benefits to the broader business.
  • Conduct annual reviews to refine and improve KM and L&D practices
  • Create and manage a central repository for technical, operational and programmatic tools, systems, policies, and other relevant documents. This person will also need to clearly articulate corporate requirements, budget, benefit, timelines for rollout, required staffing and connection to existing information resources
  • Ensure that KM - Centre of Excellence and Learning Practices are firmly embedded in business processes
  • Identify best KM practices and leverage existing technology and skill set to create new systems and business intelligence forums; provide feedback to workflow schematics, including technical cross-platform schematics; and identify bottlenecks in technology adoption, and provide evidence of resolving these problems

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience in strategy consulting
  • Strong project management skills to deliver projects on time and to the requisite level of quality, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders as necessary
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed negotiating and influencing skills
  • The ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Energy, enthusiasm and drive to create a positive working relationship with the business and the team
  • Experience in managing and leading a team, showing understanding of different cultures to achieve global business objectives
  • Ability to multi-task, incorporating good organizational skills and flexibility, to prioritize work and deliver the maximum business value
  • Ability to build strong networks across the business to develop sponsorship at all levels of the business
  • Proven technical awareness and commercial astuteness
  • Ability to understand enterprise direction, market forces, industry trends, and customer preferences.
  • Bachelor's degree required and a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 10 -12 years of experience working in information systems, and/or knowledge management/strategy
  • Strategy consulting, consulting background experience is preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally
